This accredited Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and Respiratory Failure Level 7 module is designed to enable learners to evaluate outcomes, share best practice and improve health outcomes. The complex nature of respiratory failure and management will be explored using selected clinical scenarios which include end of life and symptom control. In addition, non-invasive ventilation outside of the critical care is examined including ventilator design and functionality, patient and clinician safety and staff education and training.

Common investigations performed in primary or secondary care include spirometry, PEF monitoring, arterial and capillary blood gas analysis, x-ray, allergy testing and a variety of other tests.
The Respiratory Diagnostics Level 7 module, validated by the University of Hertfordshire, will address the principles underpinning a number of respiratory investigations and will seek to provide studies with a critical view of the accuracy and validity of the tests, by consideration of the concepts of sensitivity and specificity.
