In addition, non-invasive ventilation outside of the critical care is examined including ventilator design and functionality, patient and clinician safety and staff education and training.

This Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and Respiratory Failure Level 7 module builds on participants existing knowledge and experience of non-invasive ventilation. During the module you will learn to recognise the various different pathways to respiratory failure and explain the methods of non-invasive support and when to use them.

Following completion of the module learners will be able to:

  • Analyse and explore the pathophysiological processes leading to respiratory failure.
  • Evaluate methods of non-invasive respiratory support and management and how best to apply these to ensure the most appropriate care of these patients. care.
  • Objectively review the evidence in order to demonstrate advanced decision-making in assessment, support and provision of non-invasive ventilation to manage respiratory failure.
  • Demonstrate autonomous working at an advanced level, identifying the need for relevant support, guidance, knowledge and skill development.
  • Review and appraise published research findings to identify, access, transfer, and apply evidence to their own practice setting, specifically as it relates to multi-professional and/or organisational practice.

This course is accredited by the University of Hertfordshire. After purchasing your place from Education for Health, your course information will include the requirement to register for the activity with the University of Hertfordshire before the start date. Failure to do this will result in you not being able to start the course. In this instance our normal Terms & Conditions will apply.

The university registration end date is set at 6 weeks before the start date of the module. Late applications can still be processed and will be considered on an individual basis.
