Within the module students will consider managing services including planning, implementing policy, patient and carer involvement and empowerment to self-manage, service redesign, ‘lean’ methodology, value stream mapping and managing risk.

This accredited Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and Respiratory Failure Level 7 module is designed to enable learners to evaluate outcomes, share best practice and improve health outcomes. The complex nature of respiratory failure and management will be explored using selected clinical scenarios which include end of life and symptom control. In addition, non-invasive ventilation outside of the critical care is examined including ventilator design and functionality, patient and clinician safety and staff education and training.

Study Type Supported online learning Duration 6 months Level Level 7 (postgraduate) Start Date Various - see note on registration below This Respiratory Assessment and Examination Level 7 module has been designed to enable the student to analyse the role of history taking, respiratory assessment and examination in the diagnosis of respiratory conditions. Students will advance their knowledge and understanding of the assessment process to consider the complex interrelationships between patient and practitioner and to evaluate the appropriate use of investigations and clinical examination, enabling them to work through the diagnostic process systematically, using reasoned deduction.

Respiratory Diagnostics Level 7 module
Study Type Supported online learning Duration 6 months Level Level 7 (postgraduate) Start Date Various - see note on registration below Clinical investigations are important to enable clinicians to help confirm or rule out suspected diagnosis. Common investigations performed in primary or secondary care include spirometry, PEF monitoring, arterial and capillary blood gas analysis, x-ray, allergy testing and a variety of other tests.
The Respiratory Diagnostics Level 7 module, validated by the University of Hertfordshire, will address the principles underpinning a number of respiratory investigations and will seek to provide studies with a critical view of the accuracy and validity of the tests, by consideration of the concepts of sensitivity and specificity.
