New Short Course: Supporting Mental Health in Adults with Long-Term Conditions
Education for Health is delighted to launch a new Level 6 short course designed to support healthcare professionals working with adults who have long-term conditions.
The Supporting Mental Health in Adults with Long-Term Conditions course provides an in-depth overview of common mental health conditions often seen in primary and community care settings. It explores how these conditions can develop as co-morbidities alongside physical health challenges, and how healthcare professionals can better identify and support patients who may be at risk.
Key areas include:
-
Understanding the intersection between long-term physical and mental health conditions
-
Evaluating evidence for pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
-
Using tools to identify mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression
-
Supporting patients from vulnerable groups with person-centred strategies
-
Strengthening the role of the multi-disciplinary team in care planning and delivery
This six-month, interactive blended online learning course (worth 30 credits at Level 6) has been co-produced with NHS England and experienced nurses across primary care, community, and specialist mental health roles.
By completing this course, healthcare professionals will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently engage patients in conversations around mental health, while providing care that reflects the needs of the whole person.
