World Heart Day, celebrated on 29 September, is fast approaching. This year marks the start of an exciting three-year journey. World Heart Day’s focus is shifting from simply raising awareness about cardiovascular disease (CVD) to actively empowering individuals to take control of their heart health and advocate for global change. At Education for Health, we’re thrilled to continue our alignment with this mission through the launch of our new Level 6 course, Enhancing Cardiovascular Care for Professional Practice.

Our mission at Education for Health is to equip healthcare professionals with the critical knowledge they need to tackle pressing health challenges and enhance their clinical practice. Given the increasing prevalence of CVD, which now accounts for 27% of all deaths in the UK and stands as the country’s second leading cause of mortality, we knew that this needed to continue to be a key focus of our portfolio of courses.

Accredited by the University of Hertfordshire, our new ‘Enhancing Cardiovascular Care for Professional Practice’ course is designed to be flexible, online, and self-paced, aligning with the demanding schedules of healthcare professionals. The curriculum offers a dive into the latest best practices for assessing, diagnosing, and managing CVD. Students will explore the full spectrum of the disease, from identifying risk factors to implementing lifestyle interventions and pharmacological treatments. Over the course of six months, participants will commit around 300 hours of study to earn 30 credits at Level 6. The course culminates in a case study and a poster presentation, empowering students to educate their patients about CVD risk factors.

Our first cohort of students began the course this week, and we’re looking forward to hearing how they are able to apply the course content and make a difference in the lives of their patients. Through this new course, alongside our Level 7 course on Heart Failure and our specialised masterclasses, we are proud to contribute to World Heart Day’s mission to empower change, prevent cardiovascular disease, and save lives.
