Celebrating the fantastic achievements and hard work of our learners.

This years presentation took place on Wednesday 14 June 2023 where we celebrated graduates from the MSc Respiratory Practice, MSc Long Term Conditions, PG Certificate Learning and Teaching in Clinical Practice and the BSc Long Term Conditions.
The event included an address from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Robert Angus, and was followed by the presentation of awards.
To round off the day, graduates and their families were invited to mark the occasion by joining Education for Health for a celebratory lunch.
Meet the Graduates of 2023

What did our Graduates say
Denise Kane – BSc Long Term Conditions
“It really has changed my whole career” – these are the words Denise shared with us on Graduation day, and we couldn’t be more delighted to hear them. Denise’s background was working as a Pharmacy Technician. She now works for a community respiratory care team as a Respiratory Practitioner. Denise says she would “never have got as far as (she) did without it (the course)” and that she often recommends Education for Health to others. Her work in the community for a specialist team now allows her to continue to advance her skills, including assessing and prescribing oxygen, dealing with MND patients and learning to manage non-invasive ventilation.
Bethan McFadyen – MSc Respiratory Practice
For Bethan, studying the MSc “changed the way” she practices medicine. Not only did the course deepen her knowledge of respiratory medicine it also improved her practical skills. What’s more, Bethan says it also helped her improve her communication skills with patients and their families.
Mohan-pal Chandan – MSc Respiratory Practice
Mohan says he has been “recommending Education for Health for years now”. His experience of learning with us was definitely a positive and useful one, with Mohan attributes his current role to his success on his MSc course. “I now work with NHS England, as National Chief Advisor for Personalised Care and Respiratory – because of this course… It enabled me to now run the respiratory and diagnostics clinic”.
Lorraine Smith – MSc Respiratory Practice
We’re thrilled to say that Lorraine really sang our praises when we asked about her experience of learning with Education for Health. She shared that the course was challenging, but really enjoyable and worth it. She praised the tutors, stating they “were brilliant, always offering support” and that the online interactive learning really suited her. The course also fuelled an interest in research, and now alongside her role as Lead Respiratory Nurse, Lorraine is also a Principle Investigator and Research nurse within her Primary Care Network. Most importantly, Lorraine feels she now has “a lot more skills and knowledge” that she uses with her patients every day.
Louise Langham-Hill – MSc Long Term Conditions
During her studies, Louise worked in Primary Care, but has since returned to her Emergency Department roots and now works as a Nurse Practitioner within a hospital. She says that the skills she learnt during her MSc are transferrable to many areas of medicine, she also notes that the support for learners was excellent on the course. Louise comments that “you could always get in contact with the support team” and that even throughout the pandemic, requests and queries were also responded to promptly.
Helen Morris – MSc Respiratory Practice
Helen emphasises that the MSc in Respiratory Practice has enabled her to provide advanced level nursing care. She currently leads the Manchester Interstitial Lung Disease Service, and has developed this from a small function to a team of nurses providing specialist care across the North West of England region.
Natasha Ononiwu – MSc Respiratory Practice
Natasha is a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist in an extended scope role for a community COPD Team in South East London. On a day to day basis, Natasha runs COPD and asthma clinics, delivers pulmonary rehabilitation and manages complex patients with COPD. She says that she analysed research, data and guidelines through her MSc and this has enabled her to develop evidence-based respiratory services.
Abigail Dowman – BSc Long Term Conditions (Cardio)
Having started the course while living abroad, Abigail originally had to fly to the UK to take part in her course study days – though she says these were worth the long journey. She now works in the UK as a Practice Nurse at a busy GP surgery.
Abigail says the course gave her extra awareness of different long term conditions, complications due to chronic illness and helps her now to “diagnose and manage patients”.
Preeti Minhas – PG Certificate Learning and Teaching in Clinical Practice
Preeti initially trained as a Pharmacist, but in more recent years has worked at Education for Health as Assistant Director of Clinical Learning. Preeti decided to undertake the PG Certificate, so that she could further her own knowledge, and identify ways in which she can improve the eLearning experience for healthcare professionals. She emphasises that the course enabled her “to take a moment to reflect as an educator”.
Lesley Taylor – BSc Long Term Conditions
Lesley currently works as a Respiratory Specialist Nurse for Leicestershire Partnership Trust. Her role is to care for patients with COPD and asthma as well as running a virtual ward for patients post hospital discharge.
Alexandra Curzon – BSc Long Term Conditions
Currently working as a Nurse Specialist and Practice Educator in palliative care, Alexandra’s role sees her working with patients in the community with life limiting conditions and often in their last year of life.
Patience Ibe – MSc Respiratory Practice
Patience currently works as an agency nurse and thoroughly enjoyed learning with Education for Health.
