Please Note: All scheduled courses (unless clearly indicated) are delivered online using an Interactive Blended Online Learning Model. This includes a blend of live webinars, workshops and Q&A sessions with clinical tutors combined with eLearning and videos; all designed to enable participants to build the knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete their course.

This CPD-accredited Essentials of CVD course is aimed at learners who are new to working with CVD patients and would like an overview of the disease, diagnosis, and management. If you are already working with patients with CVD and would like an update, please have a look at our Heart Failure Online Refresher course, or our range of Level 5 and 6 short courses.

Increase your knowledge and know-how

New Essentials courses will follow a blended learning model, with eLearning Units that can be completed and revisited at any point over the 6 month registration period.

Units topics will include:
• What is CVD
• Assessment and Diagnosis
• Pharmacological Management
• Supporting Self-Management (including lifestyle interventions)
• Case Study and Knowledge Check

This self-directed learning will be supported by monthly ‘drop in’ webinars facilitated by our clinical associates. Learners can attend up to six sessions, to ask questions, share best practice, and apply their learning to case scenario discussions.

We expect COPD and Diabetes to be available to purchase from April, with Asthma and CVD launching in May – a learner’s registration period begins at the point of purchase (as per Spiro model). Prices will remain the same as the old format.

Anticipated study time required will be 45-60 minutes per Unit, so total indicative study time will be approx 4 hours, as per the current format.

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain what CVD is and the population groups it affects
  • Recognise conditions (co-morbidities) that contribute to CVD and the impact they have on CVD symptoms
  • Explain the impact of CVD on an individual’s quality of life
  • Explain the key diagnostic tools used in CVD
  • Explain a range of pharmacological (medicine-based) and non-pharmacological (lifestyle-based) pathways used in CVD
  • Apply your learning to ‘real life’ case studies

Buying for someone else?

You need to purchase an Essentials Workshop Learning Licence which you can then allocate to your learner/s.

I want to book my practice nurse onto this Essentials Workshop – what should I do?

If you are buying for someone else then for your example, you should purchase an Essentials Workshop Learning Licence – you are then issued with a code which you pass to the learner to book themselves onto the next suitable date.

Read more about Learning Licences here: https://www.educationforhealth.org/book-with-us/buying-a-place-for-others/learning-licences/

I need to buy for at least ten people.

We have extra support for purchasers buying learning licences at this volume, including a dedicated Partnership Manager who can help with licence usage reports, learner progress on courses and completion data. This allows you to easily demonstrate a return on your investment. We also have discounts available when bulk buying – talk to the team on [email protected] to find out more.
