Increase your knowledge and know-how

This Essentials of Asthma programme is designed for practitioners who have recently begun to, or are preparing to, support patients with asthma. This may include newly qualified nursing staff, HCAs and HCSWs, social care staff, or experienced healthcare professionals who have been recently deployed in asthma.

Led by a highly qualified frontline clinician, these interactive sessions will enable you to improve your clinical practice by:

  • Discussing and reviewing best practice in asthma
  • Reviewing current guidelines around diagnosing asthma
  • Exploring pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment pathways
  • Reflecting on local practice through self-directed learning tasks.

This course involves two 2-hour webinars delivered six weeks apart. Following the first session, learners are asked to explore how they will apply their learning in practice and evaluate these outcomes in session 2.

Reviews

‘I have learnt more about the pathophysiology and diagnosis of asthma- I really had very little knowledge before and this was really helpful.’

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain what asthma is and the population groups it affects
  • Recognise the symptoms of asthma
  • Explain the impact of asthma on an individual’s quality of life
  • Explain the key diagnostic tools used in asthma
  • Explain a range of pharmacological (medicine-based) and non-pharmacological (lifestyle-based) pathways used in asthma
  • Apply your learning to ‘real life’ case studies

I want to book my practice nurse onto this Essentials Workshop – what should I do?

If you are buying for someone else then for your example, you should purchase an Essentials Workshop Learning Licence – you are then issued with a code which you pass to the learner to book themselves onto the next suitable date.

This allows you to easily demonstrate a return on your investment. We also have discounts available when bulk buying – talk to the team on [email protected] to find out more.
