Understanding current approaches to end of life care for patients with COPD

4th August 2017

In the latest REAL case study, Peter is 82 years old and has had COPD for 25 years. He is an ex-smoker and is currently on triple therapy, but is still very symptomatic.

Peter’s symptoms suggest that his COPD is having a significant impact on his life. He spends most of his time in his chair or in his bed, which has been moved downstairs.

Over the past six months he has been admitted to hospital with breathlessness on two occasions and has had three courses of prednisolone.

What will you do next? Test your skills with this practical case study.
