Education for Health Asthma lead Viv Marsh will present an abstract on the Supporting Childrens Health project to the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG) 6th Scientific Meeting in Romania later this month.

The abstract focuses on the Supporting Childrens Health education resource (available at https://www.supportingchildrenshealth.org) which was developed by Education for Health and the George Coller Memorial Fund and aims to help people who work with children and young people to improve their knowledge and understanding of asthma.

94% of learners had increased confidence

The primary target audience is staff working in schools, followed by any other professionals working with children and young people, including healthcare professionals developing their understanding of asthma in this age group.

Co-authored with four other Education for Health staff members and George Coller Memorial Fund founder Kim Douglas, the abstract looks at the aim of the resource, the context, and describes the information available.

users felt they had improved their knowledge

Originally launched in 2015 with a UK based target audience, the resource had 20,972 registered users. Further to collaboration with Open Airways – Bermuda, SCH re-launched in September 2018 with an international target audience. The site was refreshed to have an international flavor, plus to include key information for Bermudians, and Education for Health is keen to work with more international groups to add information relevant for their country.

Statistics on the take up of this relaunch to an international audience will be presented at the conference, and usage by other countries encouraged to improve understanding of asthma in children and young people there.
