Health Education Charity Welcomes New Co-chairmen
18th October 2018
Handing over the Baton
After 9 years of steering the charity through various changes Dr Jonathan Shapiro stood down as Chairman at the September board meeting. As he passes on the baton the organisation enters a new phase in its development. This is heralded by the appointment of two co-chairmen, Professor Ursula Gallagher and Dr Robert Angus.
This decision enables the charity to have the double benefit of two experienced and respected people supporting the Executive Team.
It also means that their complementary knowledge and expertise will help us position ourselves more effectively within the ever changing external market.
Dr Shapiro said: “I’m sure that the dynamic co-chairs working with the executive team will be a potent force for change, and will help Education for Health drive into the future, buzzing with ideas and opportunities.”
Taking up the mantle Professor Gallagher and Dr Angus offered a massive thank you to Jonathan for his service.
They said: “This is an exciting time for Education for Health as it has secured revalidation of its undergraduate programmes. As it approaches revalidation of its Masters programme, the educational portfolio is the strongest it has been.
“The need for post qualification training is greater than it ever has been and Education for Health is able to offer programmes across long term conditions.
They added: “One of the biggest challenges to the NHS is to find a way to invest in the training of its staff, if its aspirations for world class care are to be realised.
“With the declared forthcoming NHS focus on respiratory and cardiac conditions, with our innovative learning options we are ideally placed to partner the NHS in skilling up its work force. Education for Health’s goal remains unadulterated, to improve health by delivering evidence-based care for the benefit of patients; this is something we are excited about driving forward.”
