NHS Education for ScotlandNHS Education for Scotland (NES) has been commissioned by the Scottish Government to manage a significant investment in General Practice Nursing (GPN) for education and development.

This funding will support GPN role development in line with the Chief Nursing Officer’s Transforming Roles programme and the National Health and Social Care Workforce Plan Part 3 enabling nurses to work in integrated teams to meet the changing health and care needs of Scotland’s population.

Funding applications can be made for courses that will commence before 31 March 2019 and retrospective funding for courses that commenced after 1 April 2018. Applications for funding can be made at any time before 18 January 2019 – please note that in the first round of funding, the application process was closed on the final date stated so applications had to be in by the day before.

Education for Health is booking dates across Scotland to support nurses working in General Practice teams hoping to access the funding. We are currently working with Education Commissioners in cities across Scotland to set up courses for their local areas that nurses can access and apply for the NES funding. If any spaces are available after their nurses have been booked on, they will be shown here:

If you wish, you can let us know what courses you would like to see and where, and we will share the information with local commissioners to try and support learning in your area:
