Choosing the Right Level of Study

31st December 2018

Are you interested in learning with Education for Health but are unsure of the right level of study for you?

We want you to get the most out of your education, and to ensure that you acquire key clinical skills and knowledge, we offer different levels of study so that you can find the right fit for your needs.

We appreciate that when you are choosing what module or workshop to undertake there are multiple factors to take into consideration, and perhaps the most important is the level of study.

A level of study is what we are referring to when we speak of workshops, Level 5 or Level 6 education, however the differences may not be obvious.

Workshops are used as either an introduction to an area where students learn essential information, or an update where we help students top up their knowledge to match current practice. Both of these are taken by students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Level 5 Modules are equivalent to the work that you would do as a second year undergraduate in a conventional three year degree course.

Level 6 Modules are of the same level of difficulty as those experienced in the third/final year of your undergraduate degree course.

Where a subject is offered at more than one level the clinical content and focus will be similar at both levels and will enable successful students to deliver sound evidence based care.

Level 6 Modules however include increased focus on the strategic issues involved in the delivery of care. They may therefore be more appropriate than Level 5 for those working in positions where they may be responsible for managing a team or are responsible for the development and running of services.
