Why study a PG Cert Respiratory Practice?

Respiratory disease is the third leading cause of death in the UK. Asthma attacks have increased by a third over the last decade, and the number of people affected by asthma in the UK is amongst the highest in the world.

COPD statistics are equally daunting. It is estimated that 3 million people in the UK have COPD, 2 million of those are currently undiagnosed.

Our Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and know-how to provide high quality care for people with respiratory conditions and to positively impact respiratory health outcomes.

Course overview:

This course provides both a theoretical and practice based overview of common respiratory conditions, their diagnosis and management.

Taught by experienced clinicians in the field of respiratory medicine, and accredited by the University of Hertfordshire, this course is an academically rigorous route to enhancing your respiratory skills in line with national guidelines.

You’ll benefit from interactive flexible part-time study enabling you to learn over a period of time while balancing other work and life commitments.

Upon completion of the Certificate, you’ll be able to evaluate existing practice, demonstrate advanced decision making and have the knowledge and confidence to support patients based on their individual needs.

This interdisciplinary course is designed for healthcare professionals from a range of professional backgrounds, including nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, working in a range of care settings.

For those who are new to working in respiratory care, this course will help you develop a sound level of knowledge in this area. The flexibility of choosing an option module that suits your needs, whether it is to develop your knowledge and skills of assessment and examination or non-invasive ventilation in respiratory failure, can help in your career development.

On completion of the PG Certificate, learners will have the option to apply for the full MSc Respiratory Care, and will be able to use their 60 credits from this PGCert course towards the MSc completion.
