30 years, 30 stories: Karen Storey
16th June 2017
Education for Health is celebrating 30 years of improving the lives of people with long term conditions. We are marking this important milestone by sharing the stories of 30 people involved in our success, today it is the turn of Karen Storey of Health Education England West Midlands.
“I would like to congratulate Education for Health on this, their 30th anniversary.
“As an Education Commissioner, Education for Health was considered a first option as an education provider to deliver training for General Practice Nurses and the wider primary care team. Their ability to develop specific programmes, tailor made in some cases to respond and adapt to local needs made them a preferred option.
“Education for Health were one of the first to develop a local Fundamentals of General Practice Nursing programme for nurses new to general practice in the CCG area. Evaluations from students on the programme demonstrated the value and quality of learning, ensuring that new GPNs were equipped with new skills to support patients with long term conditions.”

Education for Health is working hard to support nurses new to general practice and now has a Professional Clinical Practice for General Practice Nursing Course available at three levels: as a Graduate Certificate, as a Level 6 module, or as a course with competencies but no academic accreditation, allowing nurses to take the route that best suits their circumstances.
The course will next run in November 2017, please register your interest and we will be in touch as soon as dates are confirmed.
