16th February 2022
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has approved this online learning product from 20 July 2022 in accordance with RCPCH CPD guidelines.
This course was originally developed in partnership with The George Coller Memorial Fund.
Welcome to this free eLearning resource, designed for anyone who supports children and young people with asthma. The course is aligned to the Tier 1 Capabilities set out in the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma and successful completion of the eLearning certifies you as having achieved the capabilities for Tier 1. Your certification is valid for 24 months from the date of course completion (as recommended in the Capabilities Framework) – you will not be able to retake the course and generate a new certificate during this period. However, we strongly recommend that you keep your asthma knowledge up-to-date and seek advice if you are unsure how to support a child or young person in your care. A list of useful resources can be found at the end of this course, along with a downloadable summary resource that can be used to evidence how you are keeping your knowledge up-to-date.
We encourage anyone who supports children and young people to complete this module. This may include, but is not limited to:
- teachers and school support staff;
- youth workers;
- children’s group leaders (e.g. wraparound and holiday clubs, uniform groups, sports and hobby clubs);
- staff working in Children and Family Centres;
- social care and housing staff;
- parents, carers, and friends of young people with asthma.
We recommend reading through the course information sections below before starting the eLearning module. If you are not already enrolled on this course, please scroll down and register and enrol below.
The eLearning material will take approximately 45 mins to complete. You are welcome to work through the module at your own pace, and can return to review the material at any point during your enrolment period (six months from date of registration).
We hope you find the course useful and that any questions you currently have about supporting the children and young people in your care will be answered as you work through the module.
