A national medical charity established to represent the views and needs of people with allergy, food intolerance and chemical sensitivity. It offers information for both the healthcare professional and the patient including fact sheets, new research and ‘free from’ food lists.
American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI)
Provides access to research and evidence based clinical guidelines and procedures which includes a section for patient information but is mainly aimed at the clinician.

The Heart Rhythm Charity promoting better understanding, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for individuals with cardiac arrhythmias. Arrhythmia Alliance (A-A) is a coalition of individuals, patient groups, professional medical groups and allied professionals. These groups work together to promote timely and effective diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

British Cardiovascular Society (BCS)
BCS is the voice for those working in cardiovascular health, science and disease management in the UK. They aim to promote and support both the healthcare professionals who work in cardiology and the patients for whom they want to encourage the best possible treatment.
British Heart Foundation (BHF)

The BHF Alliance is a free membership scheme which supports and provides learning and development opportunities for healthcare professionals who work with people affected by, or at risk of, cardiovascular disease (CVD).
British Hypertension Society (BHS)
The BHS provides a medical and scientific research forum to enable sharing of research in order to understand the origin of high blood pressure and improve its treatment. They produce internationally renowned guidelines for the management of hypertension which are widely adopted in primary care in the UK and elsewhere. British Lung Foundation (BLF)
The charity for patients with lung disease. The website contains a wealth of useful information as well as reports and surveys for health professionals and policy makers. They fund world-class research to improve treatment, care and support for people affected by lung disease, this includes the nationwide network of Breathe Easy support groups.
British Medical Journal (BMJ)
An international peer reviewed medical journal and online publication. The website is updated daily with the BMJ’s latest original research, education, news and comment articles.
British National Formulary (BNF)
Provides UK healthcare professionals with sound up-to-date information on the selection and clinical use of medicines.
Blood Pressure UK
The Blood Pressure Association is dedicated to lowering the nation’s blood pressure. They help the local NHS to provide local initiatives to ensure that the delivery of NHS Health Checks for 40-74 year-olds, as part of the government’s national vascular screening programme ‘Putting Prevention First’, is a success. They provide a service to carry out the NHS Health Checks (vascular screening) and support workshops plus training for health care professionals.
British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association
The aims of the association are to promote public awareness that snoring and sleep apnoea are generally treatable complaints and that help is available. They offer information on causes and treatments and have a close working relationship with the medical profession and provide them and their patients with our expert help and information.
British Society for Allergy & Clinical Immunology (BSACI)

British Thoracic Society (BTS)
The BTS objective is to improve the standards of care of people who have respiratory diseases. There are downloadable copies of all BTS Guidelines, access to audit tools, educational materials, case studies, and other tools developed to disseminate key messages in the Guidelines.
Cardio & Vascular Coalition
A national coalition of 40 voluntary and professional organisations with an interest in promoting and protecting cardiac and vascular health in England. Education for Health is a member. The interests of the CVC membership cover cardiac and vascular and related conditions – heart disease, diabetes, stroke and kidney disease – from pre-birth to end of life care.

Diabetes UK is the largest UK charity devoted to the treatment and care of people with diabetes, their family, friends and carers. It’s mission is to improve the quality of life for people with the condition and work towards a future without diabetes. It is one of the largest funders in the UK of research into better treatments for diabetes and the search for a cure. Diabetes UK provides practical support and information and safety-net services to help people manage their diabetes.
European Respiratory Society (ERS)
ERS is the leading professional organisation in its field in Europe. Its scope covers both basic science and clinical medicine. ERS seeks to alleviate suffering from respiratory disease and promote lung health through research, sharing of knowledge and through medical and public education.
Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD)
GARD is a voluntary alliance of national and international organizations, institutions, and agencies commited towards the common goal to reduce the global burden of respiratory diseases. The Global Alliance is part of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global work to prevent and control chronic diseases.
Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA)
The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) works with healthcare professionals and public health officials around the world to reduce asthma prevalence, morbidity, and mortality through resources such as evidence-based guidelines for asthma management.
Global Initiative for COPD (GOLD)

Higher Education Academy

International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR)
The International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk’s primary objective is to help raise awareness of abdominal obesity and its associated metabolic complications as a new modifiable risk factor for CVD. The website provides a comprehensive, up-to-date source of information on abdominal obesity and cardiometabolic risk.
International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG)
A charity working internationally as an umbrella organisation for national primary care respiratory interest groups. Practical resources, information, research and international guidelines for healthcare professionals working with respiratory patients in community settings worldwide.
A medical informatics service operating worldwide, 24 hours a day. Individuals can register with hidden medical conditions or allergies that could result in a medical emergency where they are unable to communicate with a health professional e.g. anaphylaxis, epilepsy, diabetes. MedicAlert can transmit vital medical information about that individual to a health professional dealing with such an emergency situation.
Met Office – Health
The Health section explains how weather can affect health and provides specially produced health forecasts to help professionals and patients know when, and where, there is a risk of illness. Through this understanding, action can be taken, by both healthcare providers and individuals, to help keep people well and enable more effective use of healthcare resources.

STARS (Syncope Trust And Reflex anoxic Seizures)

UK Stroke Forum
The UK Stroke Forum, hosted by The Stroke Association, is a coalition of 27 organisations committed to improving stroke care in the UK. The main activity of the UK Stroke Forum is the annual multidisciplinary scientific conference which aims to provide a forum for stroke clinicians and researchers to meet and share ideas, promote multidisciplinary research and provide a unified voice for more statutory sector funding for research.
UK Forum for Stroke Training (UKFST)
The UKFST is supporting the development of stroke-specific training and education UK wide through the Stroke-Specific Education Framework (SSEF). The SSEF outlines the knowledge, skills and competencies that those pursuing a career in stroke specialist care should have in addition to the generic skills of their profession. The UKSFT assesses courses against the SSEF to establish whether their content covers its different elements to the required level to enable the development of a national database of quality assured, endorsed training. Endorsement will improve services and care for people affected by stroke and for those working in stroke care at all levels. Educational, third, public and private sector organisations can apply to endorse all their training and education.
