This course is designed for healthcare professionals who care for patients with, or at risk of developing Tuberculosis (TB) in the community. With around 8,000 new cases of TB reported annually in the UK, it is vital that front line staff know what signs to look for. This course covers epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment options, compliance and adherence issues and patient education, along with prevention control measures, contact tracing and monitoring strategies. There is a strong public health element to this course, and students are encouraged to consider the prevention strategies which can be used in high risk groups.
