This course is suitable for all health care professionals who want to learn and develop their knowledge and skills in managing people diagnosed with diabetes. Studying Diabetes as a Cardiovascular Disease will provide an understanding of the link between metabolic syndrome; diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It will enable you to understand your role in managing these challenging conditions; aiming to prevent the onset of complications or prevent further deterioration of existing complications and maintain health. This is a distance learning course; consisting of a combination of self directed study, on-line learning with two supportive - interactive study & assessment days. You will be expected to conduct a practical assessment including a 1 hour written exam. You will also have to submit a written summative assignment. On successful examinations and completion of the course you will gain a diploma to add to your professional portfolio as well as gaining key skills in line with the Key skills for life competency framework.
