Spirometry
Level: Degree Module (L6)
Credits: 30
Duration: 6 months
Notional study time: 300 hours (including time to study learning materials, attend study day and complete portfolio)
This degree level module accredited by ARTP/BTS will enable the health care professional to demonstrate their competence in both performing and interpreting spirometry. The study days provide both practical support and problem solving with peer discussion enabling evidence around spirometry to be discussed and critically appraised. Access to a spirometer and regular patient contact is essential for completion of the portfolio, which forms 50% of the marks for this module.
This module will also promote the awareness of the need for local policy and implementation in relation to many aspects of lung function testing in particular the importance of training, competence and mentorship.
Successful students will be entered on the ARTP spirometry register at Full Level (competent to perform and interpret spirometry).
