CVD Risk Assessment evaluation impacts positively on healthcare training initiatives
Whilst cardiovascular disease (CVD) causes 200,000 deaths each year in the UK, Education for Health has presented new findings which show the impact of training people to undertake CVD Risk Assessment. A poster, 'Training people to undertake CVD Risk Assessment; an evaluation from Education for Health' was presented by Ruth Westerby, Clinical Lead for CVD Risk and Stroke, at the PCCS Annual Scientific Meeting in Leeds. 2048 learners completed the CVD Risk Assessment training which was funded by the Department of Health, with the majority of training being delivered locally to the learners. Evaluations were completed by 99% of the students, of which 85% agreed/strongly agreed that undertaking the learning had; improved their clinical skills, increased their confidence, and enabled them to implement change in their workplace. Education for Health hopes an implied correlation between confident and knowledgeable health professionals providing evidence based care to patients will work towards reducing the number of deaths from cardiovascular disease in the UK.
