Social media and networking is bringing together communities of individuals who share common interests, and creating environments for interacting, learning and growing. They are very often termed Communities of Practice. Some members will be highly interactive while others just like to visit to tap into the knowledge exchange. If you want a really good example of a Community of Practice which is flourishing then follow this link to Sarah Fraser’s Facilitating Change Forum:

Sarah Fraser is internationally renowned for her work on healthcare improvement. The forum is open to anyone to join and contains a rich mix from experts through to front line workers. Change involves us all, whether as a project lead or even someone working directly with patient care. The forum is a great way to learn informally and everyone’s input is valued. Why don’t you join? You’d be very welcome. Give as much or as little of yourself as you feel comfortable, but one thing which is guaranteed is that you will learn and have fun at the same time.
