The Poodwaddle World Clock of global health statistics
Written by Poodwaddle
The Poodwaddle World Clock of global health statistics manages to be morbidly fascinating and inspiring at the same time. The clock tabulates statistics on cause of death, illness and injury incidence in real time, allowing you to observe the numbers of deaths from cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease and diabetes, as well as incidence of asthma, TB, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
The statistics are estimates calculated from annual figures provided by various sources including the World Health Organization and it is possible to view the clock by year, month, day, week or ‘now'. Education for Health staff, students and trainers were very quick to review this site:
"A really powerful way to challenge yourself and your audience to confront the realities of the morbidity and mortality associated with long-term conditions."
"I'm here to focus on better diagnosis of risk; seeing the clock just confirms how important these skills are."
