World Heart Rhythm Week; Education for Health helps raise awareness and education of heart rhythm disorders

Education for Health is encouraging healthcare professionals to visit the newly launched Arrhythmia Alliance (AA) website during World Heart Rhythm Week, where they can download a number of outstanding resources which can be used with patients to help them understand that the pulse is one of the most effective ways of identifying potential cardiac arrhythmias.

  • New translated patient resources offering support and information around diagnosis and treatment
  • New medical toolkit
  • Paediatric resources
  • International translations of the ‘know your pulse’ materials and other medical resources
  • Launch of an i-phone application guiding users on how to take their pulse
  • Development of an ‘e-card’ (card to send via email) to alert patients with check their pulse during WHRW

“Palpitations are common; thankfully many are benign yet many health professionals face the challenge of assessing these symptoms. To help them, the Arrhythmia alliance has again produced an excellent information pack suitable for both health professionals and patients. This includes the ‘palpitations checklist’; this is simplistic but effective in aiding both the patient and health professional elicit the nature of the palpitation leading to streamlined management” said Wendy Churchouse, Clinical Lead for Heart Failure at Education for Health.

Running from 7th to 13th June 2010, World Heart Rhythm Week is an annual global event organised by Arrhythmia Alliance (AA) and held in partnership with ICPES (International Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology). The week long event brings together international organisations, groups and individuals to raise awareness of education and heart rhythm disorders.
