First eLearning course unveiled by Education for Health supports NHS Health Check initiative
2 June 2010
Warwick, United Kingdom. [2nd June 2010] Leading education and research charity Education for Health has launched the first interactive eLearning resource on Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Risk Assessment as part of its new eLearning vision.* CVD remains the UK's biggest killer and the new course equips health care professionals with the skills they need to implement the NHS Health Check for adults between 40 and 74 years to prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
The course incorporates all the latest improvements in technology and clinical guidance to prevent or delay the progress of CVD, and has been written to support the national competency framework for vascular risk assessment. The Diploma level course is aimed at the full range of health care professionals involved in CVD risk prevention and has already generated a high level of interest from GPs, practice nurses, health trainers, health care assistants and lifestyle staff.
After 6 months’ interactive online training participants will be equipped to carry out CVD risk assessment using standard risk predictor tools, communicate risk to patients and support behaviour change with motivational strategies. The course also provides participants with a range of skills to manage patients at high-risk of CVD, and to set up effective practice management systems.
The online course design provides an impressive virtual learning environment packed with the latest eLearning features. Students can log in to a personalised learning environment which is enhanced by audio, animation and illustrations. The Open University accredited diploma module takes 6 months to complete and is supported by 1 face to face study day and 1 assessment day.
Potential users can simply log on at http://elearning.educationforhealth.org to have a free taster session of the learning material to see just how easy it is to operate and enjoy.
