Education for Health are forging a collaboration with PHORUS (Public Health Open Resources for the University Sector), who are part of an initiative to promote the development of a range of open educational resources focused on public health in the Higher Education sector.

Project PHORUS is one of thirty projects across the UK which has been testing the benefits of providing open educational resources (OER) in Higher Education.  Funded by the JISC Open Educational Resources Programme and focused on public health, PHORUS is led by the Health Services and Practice Subject Centre working with the Royal Society for Public Health, Bournemouth University and other partners.

Contributors have donated a range of open educational resources which are accessible and freely available for health professionals through their online JorumOpen repository at http://www.jorum.ac.uk

Education for Health have contributed resources about Improving Health for any health professional within health and social care - these are free to access from the JorumOpen website or download them directly here:

Toolkit: How to make your case for Education & Training: A unique business case toolkit around Improving Health offering any professional in health and social care a simple, effective way to produce business cases to successfully secure funds for their continuing professional development.  It contains an evidence based, module specific business proposal to establish current levels of knowledge, understanding and experience, and plan development of competencies within the framework of the health needs of their practice population in a way which is meaningful to the QoF, KSF and National Workforce Competencies.

Improving Health: Public Health - Getting back to basics: This presentation explores some of the theories and tools which can be applied in order to set up an effective public health improvement initiative.  Notes have been included to assist the facilitator with the presentation.  This workshop presentation has been adapted from the Improving Health Diploma Level Module designed by Education for Health.
