MyAsthma App makes asthma more manageable

Education for Health lead fight against asthma - with a mobile phone

 Education for Health today welcome the launch of a new app for mobile smart phones which allows asthma sufferers to manage their condition far more effectively and store much more information about their condition, on a daily basis, than has previously been possible. The MyAsthma app is designed to help people over the age of 12 take control of their asthma and includes a simple test to help people understand their asthma as well as localised information on pollen count, pollution and other triggers of asthma.

Education for Health’s Chief Executive Monica Fletcher was one of a panel of asthma experts who helped develop the app, lending her expert knowledge to its design. The app aims to empower asthma patients, allowing them to better understand their condition and address the personal barriers they face in managing their asthma. As such the app can generate tailored messages and will facilitate more informed dialogue between patients and healthcare professionals.

Monica Fletcher, Chief Executive of Education for Health, said today;

“The MyAsthma app is a really exciting step towards better management of asthma and towards improving the quality of life of those who live with this condition. Every year far too many people with asthma end up in hospital due to. Uncontrolled asthma that many, with the right knowledge and information, are avoidable. In terms of technology this is a really exciting moment. For many years Education for Health have acted on our belief that a more informed healthcare workforce and more informed patients equals less complications and better management of asthma and other long term conditions. Apps like this are a brilliant extension of this principle giving people real understanding of their conditions and a greater capacity to live health lives, and all in the palm of their hands.”

The MyAsthma app can be downloaded for your smartphone now here.
